Assets database is a place (a virtual container) where all assets relative to current project are stored. Each asset unique stored there with specific UID.
When you import or delete assets it also affects on Assets database.

In Force you can access to Asset Database with Assets Database View. To open a view go to Window -> Panels -> Tools -> Assets Database.
In this view you can find all assets relative to current project. Manipulate, delete it. Just use the search filter to find them. Then RMB on assets to show the context menu with operations.
Also you can use scrollbar at the bottom of view to change it presentation. Basically it can have three views: Small List View, Big List View, Thumbnails View.
